Round 1 of Schools Upgrade Fund open

Local schools can now apply for grants of up to $25,000 to create better-equipped learning environments and support students after disruptions caused by COVID-19.

Anne Urquhart, Senator for Tasmania, said both government and non-government schools can apply for funding towards small-scale projects as part of the Australian Government’s Schools Upgrade Fund.

“School communities in Braddon can receive financial support to upgrade air ventilation, build or improve outdoor learning spaces, purchase tablets and laptops, and refurbish classrooms,” Senator Urquhart said.

Minister for Education, Jason Clare, said educational infrastructure helps support better student outcomes, including attendance, attainment and behaviour.

“COVID-19 highlighted the importance of air quality and ventilation in our schools, as well as the benefits of outdoor learning spaces and the need to provide equitable access to flexible learning for students,” Minister Clare said.

“The Albanese Government has committed $32 million to this first round of grants”

Schools can apply for funding at www.education.gov.au/schools-upgrade-fund.

Applications close Friday, 24 February 2023.
